As standalone business entities, all CSI chapters and regions should maintain a minimum protection level for the chapter’s or region’s activities, officers, and members. Not having these forms of coverage could expose elected leaders and officers to personal liability and the chapter or region itself to financial hardship in the event of a lawsuit.
The types of policies generally required by business entities are Association Directors & Officers Liability (D&O) and General Liability as detailed below:
- Association D&O Liability protects against lawsuits for management decisions made in good faith, sometimes viewed as malpractice protection for errors and omissions of governance or management actions.
- General Liability coverage protects against lawsuits for property damage, bodily injury, personal injury, or negligence during chapter gatherings and events.
