Legal Resources

CSI is working with the law firm of Webster, Chamberlain & Bean, LLP (WCB) to connect you to essential legal resources if your chapter or region (component) does not have access to experienced non-profit legal counsel.

As part of CSI’s commitment to good governance, it encourages each chapter and region to ensure its governing documents and yearly processes are up-to-date and compliant with applicable laws. Maintaining contemporary governance documentation and practices is an important step to maintain the health of your chapter or region and minimize legal risks to your component, its leadership, and CSI.

Governing Document Review

A legal review conducted by a WCB attorney with association governance and nonprofit law experience.

If you take advantage of this resource, WCB will conduct a review consisting of:

  • A check on state corporate or business status.

  • Review of the component’s Articles of Incorporation and Bylaws for compliance with applicable state law.

  • Redlining the documents to show suggested changes.

  • Discussion of any suggested changes and follow-up questions via conference call with a WCB attorney.

The cost for this initial review will not exceed $1,500

If further assistance is needed (such as advice on how to implement governance changes, requests to analyze additional documents such as contracts, or other matters), this would be negotiated on a per project basis directly between the component and WTP.
