Brian Alcott has been in the transportation engineering industry for over 15 years. Structural design interests led him to a career as a bridge designer for the Texas Department of Transportation. During this time he earned his Master’s degree in Civil Engineering with an emphasis on structural engineering. After five years with TxDOT Brian became a consulting engineer at HNTB. During this time Brian served as lead design engineer and interim department head. Brian then worked for Michael Baker as the senior bridge design engineer handling design, plan production, construction services, construction specifications, and various project management tasks. Recently Brian has made the move from bridge designer to construction manager. Brian is currently a Supervising Engineer for the City of Houston Public Works and Engineering Department, in the Construction Branch. Brian has managed the construction of various bridge repairs, including bearing pad replacement, expansion joint replacement and existing bridge bent replacement. He has also managed major thoroughfare projects and has overseen the management of large diameter tunneling projects.
