Although steel studs have been around for seventy years, it’s only recently that cold-formed steel framing systems have become ubiquitous in modern commercial construction. On Wednesday November 15 the Greater St. Louis Chapter of CSI presents “Codes for Cold-Formed Steel in Mid-Rise Buildings,” a review of changing codes and industry standards related to this all-important fundamental building material.

This program is presented by Robert Grupe, CSI, General Manager for Architectural Services for the Steel Framing Industry Association (SFIA), In that capacity he manages the architectural outreach initiative of SFIA. Bob spent over 38 years with United States Gypsum Company in various technical and management positions including product and systems design and technical consultation to the AEC community. He has published several technical articles and provides technical presentations to the construction industry.

Our sponsor is ClarkDietrich [ https://www.clarkdietrich.com ], a leading manufacturer of cold-formed metal framing systems, and their local representative, Tom Gant, one of our long-time chapter leaders. Our sponsors keep these monthly programs free and open to all.

This is the third program in this year’s “Codes and Standards” series, our yearlong look at specific pertinent issues related to aspects of building codes, industry standards, and best professional practices. Follow us at www.stlouiscsi.org for more information.

*Greater Saint Louis Chapter CSI in-person and hybrid programs open doors at the time listed for networking and the presentation typically begins 30 minutes later.
