One of the topics we did not get to fully discuss due to time was "How do we reach younger members."
Our Chapter has been trying to implement what we call "Pints and Pontification" which is a weekday time after hours where we invite anyone in the construction industry to have a cold beverage after hours and talk about business. One of my "foundations" of CSI has been that I met people that owned their own businesses, and I got to learn A LOT in the world of "how to do business" in the construction industry. More often than not, I'd have people counsel me on how to react to professional practice, contract administration, IRS, building and maintaining relationships, and many other things. Our goal was to have a forum where people could ask those types of questions and provide learning "opportunities" to those in the Industry.
Needless to say, the results have been less than desired. Anyone have some ideas out there? Aside from all the "learning" CSI provides, I believe relationships in the Construction Industry are essential, and we need to develop those with younger folks!
