Description:

The MasterFormat Task Team is a group of 8 specification and AECO professionals selected to serve the industry by investing time, expertise, and effort in the updating and maintenance of the MasterFormat classification standard. Through regular meetings and industry interface, as well as interfacing with the CSI Standards Steering Committee and CSI staff, the MasterFormat Task Team will review proposed changes from the community, solicit input from industry stakeholders, and work to finalize a proposal to the CSI Standards Steering Committee for finalization. 

 

This position is open to CSI members and non-members, and applicants should be an influencer in the architecture, engineering, construction, and owner (AECO) industry. 

Responsibilities  

 As an MasterFormat Task Team volunteer 

  • Prepare for, attend, and actively participate in regular task team meetings. 

  • Accept primary responsibility for a subset of MasterFormat divisions. 

  • Review MasterFormat change proposals for their assigned divisions. 

  • Handle all assigned responsibilities professionally and dutifully.

  • Contribute to final proposals to the Standards Steering Committee. 

  • Professionally express one’s opinion during board discussions and debates and speak with one voice regarding final decisions by the Task Team. 

  • Ensure that confidential information is treated responsibly and is not disclosed.  

  • Serve as an advocate and ambassador for MasterFormat, CSI, and the AECO industry. 

In collaboration with the entire MasterFormat Task Team 

  • Develop a final set of changes for proposal to the Standards Steering Committee.  

  • Assess and respond to final changes for publication. 

Term - Task Team members serve a two-year term beginning January 1st, 2024.

 

Time Commitment 

  • 2 virtual meetings/month, with ad hoc meetings as needed. 

  • The approximate time commitment for the volunteer will be 10-15 hours monthly, inclusive of task team meetings, and review of proposals.

Additional Considerations

  • Professional experience (e.g. specifier, building products professional, architect, engineer, contractor, facilities manager) 

  • Deep familiarity with MasterFormat

  • Experience on standards committees
