1) This award is presented to a CSI member, chapter, region or group for outstanding
effort in the communication of CSI related mission, values, goals, general topics and
activities at either the chapter, region or Institute level.
b. This award has three categories as shown below. Within each category, there are specific
requirements which are spelled out. Each nomination package must be related to one of the
categories and meet the specific requirements for that category.
1) Continuing Publications The goal of this award is to recognize new, upcoming, and
impactful publications which contain innovative content that highlights cutting edge
technology; helps individuals and businesses improve within the construction
industry; or helps members or chapters improve their operations.
Items such as newsletters, syndicated columns (either hard copy or electronic), etc.
published a minimum of 4 times per award cycle are included in this category.
a) Requirements:
i. The publication shall utilize the CSI Logo within its pages and shall
meet all requirements for display of the CSI Logo as defined by the
Institute.
ii. The publication shall contain more than standard content (such as
President’s Message, upcoming meeting flyer, chapter
officer/committee chair information, etc).
iii. The nomination shall include a detailed narrative explaining the
reason for nomination including an explanation of how the
nominated publication / communication impacts the
individual/groups as noted above.
2) Electronic Communications which form the overall basis of an integrated
communications program within a chapter, region or group consisting of email
communications, social media, blogs, websites, contests, webinars,eClasses, etc. This
award may be given for a single form of communications or any combination of
communications systems which are not included in any other category (newsletter,
special publications, etc).
a) The communications system shall properly utilize the CSI Logo within its
pages.
b) The nomination narrative must include not only information pertaining to the
communication system(s) used, but must also include a detailed narrative
explaining the reason for nomination including an explanation of how the
nominated publication / communication system impacted and/or supports the
requirements noted above.
3) Special Publications such as rosters, marketing collateral, directories, technical
papers, posters, videos, and calendars (either hard copy or electronic) that are
published one time a year. If the publication is a once-per-year publication which is simply updated and reused, the award may only be given once each three (3) years unless the nomination package explicitly spells out the major changes implemented.
a) The special publication shall utilize the CSI Logo within its pages and shall
meet all requirements for display of the CSI Logo as defined by the Institute.
b) The nomination narrative must include not only information pertaining to the
communication system(s) used, but must also include a detailed narrative
explaining the reason for nomination including an explanation of how the
nominated publication / communication impacted and/or supports
requirements noted above.
c. A chapter, region or member group is permitted to submit a separate, single nomination in each
of the three categories. The nomination material shall be pertinent only to the category to
which is being submitted.
d. Materials must be published within the preceding 12 months from the due date of the
nomination deadline.
e. Nomination submissions shall:
1) Indicate which category noted above for which it is being submitted.
2) Provide an electronic copy of the nominated publication/communication.
3) Nominated documents provided must include the complete issue date somewhere on
the publication. Undated publications will not be considered.
4) For website submittals, the website URL must be provided.

g. The number of Awards presented in each category will be determined by the Awards
Committee.
