The CSI Foundation is here to inspire, support, and develop the aspirers and achievers of tomorrow’s workforce. Our mission is to propel the AECO industry forward by awarding research grants and educational scholarships to dedicated individuals and groups that will surely influence advancements across the built industry.

Patrick Abaga

Patrick is a recent Alaskan graduate working in the POL/Fuel storage and distribution Industry. He is passionate about renewable energies and plans to leverage his future fuels/project management experience into green energy systems. He is looking forward to expanding his knowledge, exploring new technologies, and connecting with industry professionals during the 2024 CSI National Conference.

Ashley Houghton, CSI-EP, CDT®

Ashley is an emerging professional with two years of experience in specification coordinating and a member of the CSI Austin Chapter. As a strong believer in lifelong learning and a previous teacher, Ashley loves absorbing as much knowledge as possible from her mentors and colleagues. She’s eager to learn from the talented professionals at the CSI conference! 

Jillian Lopez, CSI

Jillian is a construction/design professional and student in Golden, Co. She was immersed into residential construction as a child with her family’s business. Jillian is currently an Architectural Graphics Engineering student and has assumed responsibilities in her family business within project management and design. She has a strong drive to learn and grow within the industry, hone her design skills, and provide clients with the best knowledge-based experience possible.

Tineya Brown

Tineya is a Real Estate Broker, a Licensed Residential Builder, and an Appraiser Trainee with over 20 years of experience in Real Estate. She thrives on helping clients navigate the complexities of real estate, ensuring they make informed decisions regarding their transactions. Tineya's passion for housing and construction drives her to expand her knowledge in the industry.

Hector Gamboa Corral

Héctor is a graduate of Instituto Politécnico Nacional with over 20 years of experience and is committed to establishing a branch of his company in the US. He seeks to learn American codes and regulations to advance his career and contribute to the construction industry's development.  

Ashley Tate

Ashley is an education-driven professional pursuing her MBA in Business Administration. Employed at Kingspan Light & Air, she specializes in architectural daylighting and fenestration, focusing on customer-centric solutions. With extensive sales experience and a commitment to excellence, Ashley is dedicated to advancing her expertise and delivering exceptional results.

About the Scholarships



National Conference Registration Scholarship

What’s included:  
 Thanks to the support of donors, up to $2,500 will be awarded to qualifying individuals covering registration fees for attendance at the CSI National Conference, applicable pre-conference events, and a one-year membership to CSI. 
 
 
Who’s eligible:  
  • Candidates must be a construction or design professional with less than 5 years of experience, from an underrepresented population (women, veterans, minorities), and/or a current college student. NOTE: Applicants are required to show proof of being enrolled as a student. 
  • Applicants must be 18 years old or older. 
  • Applicants must be able to communicate in written and spoken English at an advanced/professional level and provide evidence of proficiency. 
  • Applicants must be able to dedicate time to the scholarship. They must obtain a letter of support from their employers for time off from their regular employment.  
  • Current CSI staff, members of the CSI Board of Directors, and members of CSI committees are not eligible. Former staff and former members of the CSI Board of Directors and committees who meet the above requirements are eligible. 
 
Requirements: 
  • Testimonial about the value of attending the event (after the event)  
  • Featured profile story for CSI (shared via CSI-related channels), and appropriate releases  
  • Write an article about one meaningful session 
  • Commitment to work with a mentor  
  • Support from employer  
  • Social media engagement

Certification Scholarship

What’s included:  
Thanks to the support of our generous donors, $1,500 will be awarded to qualifying individuals who complete a CSI Certification, with preference to the CDT® or CCPR™. This scholarship covers CSI membership dues for one year, exam fees, associated learning materials, access to the CSI Learning Library courses, and fees for a chapter or region study course.

Who’s eligible:  
  • Entry-level candidates must be seeking to complete a CSI certification. Certifications included are CDT® or CCPR™.  
  • Applicants must be a construction or design professional with less than 5 years of experience, from an underrepresented population (women, veterans, minorities), or a current undergraduate or graduate student.
  • Applicants must be 18 years old or older. 
  • Applicants must have a high school diploma. 
  • Applicants must have a maximum of 5 years of professional experience in AECO by the application deadline. This experience can include all types of practice — private, public, academic, non-profit, multi-disciplinary, and others.  
  • Applicants must be able to communicate in written and spoken English at an advanced/professional level and provide evidence of proficiency.  
  • Applicants must be able to dedicate time to the scholarship and proposed project. They must obtain a letter of support from their employers for time off from their regular employment.  
  • Current CSI staff, members of the CSI Board of Directors, and members of CSI committees are not eligible. Former staff and former members of the CSI Board of Directors and committees who meet the above requirements are eligible.

  • Featured profile story for CSI (shared via CSI-related channels), and appropriate releases  
  • Write an article about one meaningful session, or a diary of the event
