  • Akron-Canton & Cleveland CSI Scholarship Recipients

    The CSI Akron/Canton Chapter and the Cleveland Chapter have combined their scholarship efforts to award two $1,040 scholarships to worthy students studying some aspect of the construction field.  The Akron/Canton Chapter awards one $1,040 scholarships and the Cleveland Chapter awards one $1,040 scholarship.

    Requirements for the applicant are that they must be accredited college or university serving the construction industry in the northeast Ohio area and desire to pursue a career in the construction industry.  Winners must be willing to join CSI as a student, have a 3.0 GPA, a letter of recommendation from a faculty member and submit a 500 to 1000 word essay on the subject on “Why do you want to pursue a career in the construction industry and how do you feel you can contribute to the construction industry after you graduate?”
     
    We’d like to thank both of our scholarship committees; Akron/Canton Committee of Kyle Crave (co-chair) Ron Stroh, Sy Cymerman, John Anderson and Tom Pekoc (co-chair).  The Cleveland Committee of Ibrahim Hakki & Scott Taylor, John Workley and Tom Pekoc (co-chair).

    We had eight (8) applicants’ seven (7) of which attend Kent State University and one (1) from Lakeland Community College. We had two sophomores, five juniors and one senior apply.  Four are women and four are men.  We had three architectural students, four construction management and one interior design student.

    The CSI Akron/Canton Chapter is pleased to announce the award of $1,000 to Lauren Blitz who is a sophomore currently studying Architecture at Kent State University.

    The CSI Cleveland Chapter is pleased to announce the award of $1,000 to Alexandra Berman who is currently a junior at Kent State University studying Construction Management.

    Having reviewed these applicants we can testify that all of them are all worthy of receiving the scholarships and that the future of construction is extremely bright.  Please join us in congratulating all of our winners.
