CSI is built on people who are curious, collaborative, and committed to doing great work. In this new member Q&A, we’re introducing one of the newest faces in the CSI community and sharing why he joined and how CSI membership is helping him grow. Meet Andrew Ittes of Exterior Product Solutions.

How did you become a professional in the AECO industry, and do you have any specific projects you have worked on or are working on that you would like to share?

My career in the construction industry began at an early age through my family’s business, which specialized in distributing sealants, coatings, and waterproofing materials. The experience and relationships I built there laid the foundation for my professional path. Today, I serve as an independent manufacturer’s representative, focusing on a range of product lines with a strong emphasis on the building envelope.

One project that stands out from my time at Atlas Supply is the construction of the Highway 99 tunnel in Seattle. A mentor of mine, who served as the subcontractor on the job, invited my father and me to walk the tunnel and observe the sealant installation firsthand. I still drive through that tunnel several times a week, and each time, I’m reminded of that experience.

What does a "typical" week look like for you?

A typical week involves meeting with contractors, distributors, consultants, and architects to provide product education and technical training. This includes conducting Lunch and Learns, on-site training sessions, and other engagement opportunities to support the proper selection and application of our products and systems.

Have you obtained any advanced certifications?

Soon, I plan to obtain my CDT® and CCPR® certifications; I just need more hours in the day!

What do you enjoy the most about working in the AECO industry?

I enjoy collaborating with talented individuals in our industry to come up with solutions for complex challenges encountered in project details and on job sites.

What inspired you to join CSI, and how do you think being a member can help you reach your professional goals?

I joined CSI to connect with other industry professionals and gain exposure to aspects of the construction industry that I had not previously been involved in. Through participating in our chapter meetings, I’ve learned a tremendous amount and have had the opportunity to meet many outstanding people. I look forward to continuing to expand my knowledge and becoming a trusted resource for the colleagues and partners I work with.

Is there anything else the community should know about you?

I’m fortunate to live in the Pacific Northwest, where I enjoy snowboarding, skiing, mountain biking, and hiking with my wife and our two young children.
