What is Second Chance Insurance?

Second Chance Insurance is an optional add-on you can purchase when you register for your CSI certification exam. If you don’t pass your first attempt, Second Chance Insurance covers one free retake in the next testing window.

What does Second Chance Insurance include?

Second Chance Insurance includes one free retake of the same exam if you receive a failing score on your first attempt.

When do I need to purchase Second Chance Insurance?

Second Chance Insurance must be purchased at the same time as your initial exam registration.

It can’t be added later after your exam purchase is complete.

How do I use Second Chance Insurance if I don’t pass?

If you take the exam and receive a failing score, you’ll be eligible to retake the same exam once during the next testing window, at no additional cost.

You will need to submit an exam application once the next registration cycle opens. The fee will be waived. Your application will then be reviewed for approval. Once approved, you will receive a new authorization to test email.

If you do not register for the exam in the next cycle, you will lose your Second Chance Insurance.  

What happens if I pass my exam on the first try?

Congrats! If you pass on your first attempt, Second Chance Insurance won’t be needed and is not refundable.

Is Second Chance Insurance refundable?

No. Second Chance Insurance is non-refundable, even if you pass your exam on the first attempt. If you cancel your exam registration before sitting for the exam, your Second Chance Insurance is also non-refundable.

Can I transfer Second Chance Insurance to another exam or another person?

No. Second Chance Insurance is not transferable to another person or another exam product. It only applies to the original exam it was purchased with.

What if I miss my exam appointment?

Second Chance Insurance can’t be used for missed or no-show exam appointments. To use Second Chance Insurance, you must take the exam and receive a failing score.

Can I use Second Chance Insurance more than once? 

No. Second Chance Insurance covers one retake only.

What if I defer my exam to the next certification cycle?

Your Second Chance Insurance will also be deferred to that exam cycle.
