Hello Good People of the Gulf States Region
It is that time of year where we come together at the Chapter, Region and Institute levels and recognize those who have put forth the extra effort needed to make the organization work like a finely tuned car. You know those people who can put together the perfect event, those people who you can count on to be there when something needs to be done, and those people who go above and beyond what is required for a Committee Chair, Officer, or member. I know you have all heard it a thousand times time, we are a volunteer organization where people give of their time freely and without cost. What we as the leaders of the organization at all levels is to make sure that these people are recognized for their efforts.
At the Region level, that is through the Region Awards Program. There are many types of awards available. You have the following Awards that are still available.
1. The Eugene Wetzel Award for Communications Excellence.
2. Region Certificate of Appreciation – Individual Award.
3. Region Certificate of Appreciation – Firm or Organizational Award.
4. Other Service Awards – Non-Traditional Contributions to the Region.
5. Region Most-Improved Continuing Publication Award.
6. Region Continuing Publication Award.
7. Award for Special Chapter, Region, or Institute Publication.
8. Award for Chapter Program or Seminar.
9. Technical Commendation.
10. Education Commendation.
11. Region Electronic Communications Award.
12. Region Membership Award -Membership Award (Percentage Increase).
13. Region Membership Award - Membership Award (Numerical Gain).
14. Region Membership Award - Student Membership Award.
15. Membership Commendation.
16. People's Choice Awards.
Each of these Award Categories have specific requirements, so go to the Region Operating Guide, Section 4 – Awards Committee and you will find full details and requirements for each. Surely there is someone in your Chapter who can qualify for one or more that one of these awards. Form a committee, get some people together, or do whatever your Chapter deems appropriate, but get going and get those nomination packages in by the due date of May 1st. I hope to see more award nominations submitted that have been in the past few years.
