The purpose of CSI Chicago Chapter’s Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion committee is to enrich our members understanding while influencing our chapter and local AEC community to expand thought and acceptance toward diversity, equity, and inclusion in our society in a considerate and equitable way. Through outreach, education, and training, we intend to expand our base constituency—in both number and impact in communities overlooked and underserved. We will work together to embrace meaningful change and sound growth for all people. All those who wish to participate within CSI Chicago Chapter, shall feel welcomed and encouraged to share their experiences.

Diversity is the presence of differences that may include, race and ethnicity, gender and gender identity, sexual orientation, socioeconomic status, language, culture, national origin, religious commitments, age, (dis)ability status mental wellbeing, and political perspective. We commit to understanding the diverse individuals in our community and developing a strategy toward Equity & Inclusion.

Equity is the fair and just treatment of all members of a community:   We commit to working actively to challenge and respond to bias, harassment, and discrimination—in all its various forms.

Inclusion is the intentional, ongoing effort to ensure that diverse individuals fully participate in all aspects of an organization:  We commit to pursuing deliberate efforts to ensure that our organization is a place where differences are welcomed, different perspectives are respectfully heard and where every individual feels a sense of belonging and inclusion.
