Alan Itzkowitz Mentor Award

The Alan Itzkowitz Mentor Award recognizes one individual who has made an outstanding commitment to being a positive influence and improving the life and career of others in the design and construction industry. CSI Chicago established the award in 2022 and was named for Chapter Fellow Alan Itzkowitz, whose career was built upon his interest in people, ethics, innovation, education and generosity.

Mentor Award Criteria:

  • Nominees must be nominated by a current CSI Chicago member in good standing.
  • Nominees can be CSI Chicago members or non-members.
  • Nominees must be a Chicagoland AEC professional
  • Nominees should demonstrate the following:

    • A willingness to share their knowledge, skills, and expertise with their mentees

    • The ability to provide guidance and constructive feedback while encouraging the mentee to gain confidence in their own skills and intellectual independence

    • A clear interest in the mentoring relationship, showing care for their mentees and treating them with respect

    • The ability to foster a comfortable but challenging work environment, in which all members (mentors and mentees alike) have a voice and are empowered to participate in the intellectual conversation

  • Nominees must have one letter of recommendation from a CSI Chicago member or non-member in the nominees network other than the CSI Chicago nominator.


Number of Mentor Award Recipients

  • CSI Chicago will recognize one Mentor.

  • If all nominees do not meet the minimum criteria CSI Chicago is not obligated to give out the award.

  • CSI Chicago will recognize the Mentor Award winner at our May 29, 2025 in-person Awards Celebration, on our website, in our Alert Emails, and on our social media channels.
