Now in its 32nd day, the longest government shutdown in U.S. history is having an impact on everything from airport screenings to tax refunds. When asked how the shutdown might be impacting the construction industry, Raymond Gaines, FCSI, CCS, CDT, AIA, had this reply:
“The government shutdown absolutely has an effect on my business. We do a lot of multi-family work that is financed through HUD insured loans. We have two projects in the queue awaiting loan closings that cannot happen until the government reopens. Additionally, the shutdown is delaying "Permission to Occupy" which deprives our clients of rent income.”
