In Monday’s ‘'Value of Mentoring" roundup, several CSI members discussed the greatest lessons they’ve learned from mentors and those they have mentored.
Among them, Paul Gerber CSI, CSC, SCIP, CSC President 2018-2019, shared some sage advice for would-be mentors.
#1) The relationship has to be a two-sided conversation. Mentors have to do just as much listening as talking!
#2) Be sure to check any, “That's not the way we do things,” attitudes at the door. Change that helps us all step outside the box is always a good thing.
#3) Never be afraid to give something new a shot. You might be surprised at the results!
