What Do You Think, a new, weekly CSI conversation starter to help you share your experiences, insights, and observations about the work you do was introduced this month on the CSIResources.org CSI-Connect Community.
This week's question is:
What is your single largest workday challenge?
“My biggest workday challenge is to get the Project Managers/Architects to let me in on their promised delivery dates. I can’t count the number of times I am approached within two days of release and asked if we can put together a quick Project Manual. We usually get the job done, but if we had at least a week we could do a much better job. I am talking about small projects where the front ends are larger that the rest of the manual.”
- Billy Mathis FCSI, CDT
Administrative Assistant for Architecture
TAGGART / Architects
North Little Rock AR
“I agree with Billy Mathis is saying about non-communicated schedules and expectations of other members of the office teams. As CSI has consistently pointed out, ‘Communication’ is king.”
- Jerry Putnam, RA, FCSI, CCS
Specifications Coordinator
RSP Architects, Ltd.
Minneapolis, Minnesota
“As an independent specifier, one of my biggest workday issues is when an architect client changes something and fails to tell me about it until after the documents are issued. I’m dealing with some right now, and it’s not a pleasant situation because I feel responsible, yet it’s usually for information that wasn't conveyed to me.”
