What Do You Think: How Do Your Projects Make an Impact?

By CSI HQ posted 07-20-2018 08:39 AM

What Do You Think, a new, weekly CSI conversation starter to help you to share your experiences, insights, and observations about the work you do was introduced two weeks ago on the CSIResources.org CSI-Connect Community.

This week’s question is: Have your projects created a better place to work, made people healthier, restored a neglected property to its former glory, or removed an eyesore?

“The vast majority of my career has been working for public clients (owners) who need their water and wastewater treatment facilities upgraded. Sometimes it’s working for industries who need a new, private treatment facility. So, overall, I kinda hope that these types of projects—which provide safe drinking water and help to clean up the environment—are making the world and community a better place.

It certainly feels a lot better than working for land developers, plowing up fields to build a new Walmart or residential subdivision.

I rather doubt that anyone is going to post here how their work makes the world a worse place. We all like to think that anything we help to design or build is worthwhile.”

“Smart development and planning, town centers, better densities, storm water management, multi-mode transportation are all making the world a better place. For certain.”

“I’ve been working on renovating and upgrading Army medical facilities, like hospitals and dental clinic and other MOBs, so yes, I do think this work makes a difference.  People in uniform should get the best we have to offer.  Their sacrifices are often greater than our own.”
