2:30-3:30  |  Code Updates for Concrete Masonry

What Designers Need to Know

Speaker: Christina Subasic

The past 15 years have been a particularly active time for codes and standards changes for concrete masonry. There have been a series of significant changes for concrete masonry provisions, including requirements for unit geometry, changes to design provisions and updates to compliance provisions to make concrete masonry design and construction more rationale, efficient and cost effective. This presentation will review these significant changes from the 2009 to the 2021 International Codes. In particular, the presentation will focus on the updates made to TMS 402, Building Code Requirements for Masonry Structures, and TMS 602, Specification for Masonry Structures. The information provided will help attendees understand updated code and standard provisions and how to implement them properly in projects.
