Born and raised of Mexican descent on the Northwest side of Chicago with Catholic upbringing, Heidi E. Cervantes-Garcia graduated from the Illinois Institute of Technology (IIT) with both a Bachelors of Architecture and Masters degree in Architecture. She is married to her high school sweetheart, Jose M. Garcia.
With 20+ years of experience in the industry (retail and corporate interiors) from firms including Wight & Company, ML Group, FitzGerald, MRSA Architects and Planners, Skidmore, Owings & Merrill, Wallin/Gomez Architects, Door Thirteen Architects and DKAL Architects. At FitzGerald, she played a critical role in project teams supporting architectural and interior design projects with a skill for both aesthetics and technical accuracy. In addition, she worked on Fitzgerald's several most complex mixed-use projects, focusing both on new construction and adaptive reuse.
