Logo FAQs

Why a new brand?

CSI has served a unique role in the construction industry for 73 years. Building on this deep foundation, the CSI Board of Directors saw that this moment in history represented the right time to accelerate innovation, reinvention, and renewal for the organization and the industry.

Why this brand?  What was the process like to create it?

CSI needs a brand that speaks to the dynamic process of the construction industry, while also putting the achievements of members front and center. Building this brand requires a new way of thinking about who we are and what we do, which is much more than a new look.

The brand development process was based on exhaustive research and focus groups with members and nonmembers alike. Throughout this process, the Board of Directors and CSI staff discovered so much about what you love about CSI, and what you want from the organization in the future. Based on the research results, the Board enthusiastically authorized a new brand for CSI.

What are the elements of the new brand and what do they mean?

The new symbol represents the building blocks (and strategic directions) of a rejuvenated CSI. Specifically:

  • Building a Community of Belonging: The red building block denotes an open and inclusive CSI community, providing value and connection to everyone in the AEC industry.
  • Being a Center for Innovation: The image of an abstract book that symbolizes the knowledge and information that is the core of CSI, and our role as the leading resource for everyone creating the built environment.
  • Elevating the Profession: The blue symbol, reaching for the sky, represents CSI's goal of being even more respected in the construction industry, and raising the importance of the whole profession.

These blocks are arranged to create a colorful and unique graphic identity that suggests designing, building, and celebrating the built environment.
