WHATS ON YOUR PLATE IN "HELPING THE UP AND COMING"?
The monthly chapter meeting is being planned in conjunction with NAW:
The invited speaker is:
Education & Employment Navigator
Bill Gable will be speaking about NAW and give an overview of apprenticeship. The Snohomish County NAW events are typically held at the Sno-Isle Tech Skills Center. They invite all apprenticeship and pre-apprenticeship programs that are registered with the state of WA. Colleges in the area are also welcome to attend, with up to 25 vendors at these celebrations.
Currently, Bill is on a team that is assisting the city of Edmonds, WA with the creation of their new pre-apprenticeship program. This is a joint program between Sound Transit, Edmonds College, and the City of Lynnwood. There are several community organizations that are actively working in this project. Learn about Advanced Manufacturing Skills Center HERE.
Hopefully we will have updates, too, from local technical colleges regarding student CSI affiliations and our Foundation scholarships. Hear reports from attendees to the September CSI National Convention in Nashville, TN, regarding seminars on mentoring and training to fill the shortages of specifiers (one speaker was our own PP Beth Stroshane). PSC in matching current member buddies with new members so let us know if you want to participate.
Q&A follow the presentations. We will wrap up with "Constructions Trades Trivia" with winners getting Starbucks Cards.
