Building Our Transit Future - Sound Transit’s Expansion Plans & Design Standards

Chapter Meeting

Sound Transit Map

Sound Transit is currently delivering the largest voter-supported transit initiative in North America. Not only will this expansion transform mobility in the Puget Sound region, but it will also bring multiple associated benefits such as transit-oriented development, public art, job creation, and access improvements in the areas around our stations. How does an agency undertake such a large assignment while planning for consistency of passenger experience, system identity, and maintenance practices? This presentation will provide an overview of Sound Transit’s mission and current projects, then take a deeper dive into the establishment of the agency’s design standards and specifications. We will then look at projects currently in design and discuss the ways in which the public and the AEC community can engage with the agency.
