Whole Building Testing is Coming: Do Not Fear It
(1.0 LU/HSW)
Airtight buildings are crucial for reducing greenhouse gas emissions and advancing Net Zero Passive Building construction. Whole building airtightness testing, particularly ASTM E3158 developed by ABAA members, is recommended to ensure airtightness, with a 2022 training and certification program for Blower Door Technicians supporting industry adoption and dispelling myths.

Why of Commissioning - A Look at the Process and How it Can Mitigate Risk (1.0LU/HSW)
This has changed the design and construction of these “skins”. So why is commissioning a plausible solution to these challenges? Well, simply put it provides a proven and tried practice which offers guidance and structure to the complex industry of Building Enclosures. This course will cover the BECx process intended to define the project expectations, focus on quality assurance, quality control, verification of system performance, owner training, and maintenance guidance. We will discuss building enclosure commissioning and how commissioning provides a successful trifecta scenario for the owner, design team and construction team.

Groundhog Day: Reoccuring Field Installation Issues with Air Barriers (1.0 LU/HSW)
One of the most common risk management strategies used is a robust quality assurance program in the specifications that requires certified contractors, trained and certified installers, evaluated materials and on-site third-party audits. This presentation will discuss the role of the quality assurance audits, and point out what to look for when doing site observation and quality control. It will also provide real life examples that can help you identify installation issues on your project, what caused them, and what corrective action can be taken
