Fall is full!

I'm so pleased to report that we are working the plan this fall! Our chapter and CSI have a fall full of events to share.
We have many participants in this year's CSI show and convention, CONSTRUCT, since it's in Long Beach this year, October 3-5. There's no better event for education and professional development in design and construction.
Next comes our October chapter meeting - a very important and timely topic. It's a sad reality that places where people gather may require the ability to perform a lockdown to defend their inhabitants from violence. Door hardware is a vital part of that defense, and it's important that design professionals understand the options and restrictions: defense can't come at the cost of safe egress. I urge you to come learn from Michelle Bond, a respected DHI instructor.
In November, we meet a week early! Invite a friend who can't normally come on our regular night, and mark your calendar. You don't want to miss out, because we've got the very dynamic and funny Beth Stroshane helping us hack the specs to be better tools for communication. This isn't just for specifiers - this talk is geared to all of us involved in communicating design.
Watch this space for a special opportunity for professional development: licensed design professionals can add a Cal OES SAP Evaluator credential, enabling you to assist during disaster recovery. Our own Les Meu is an instructor, and we're pleased to be able to offer his expertise to our community. The date isn't set yet, but expect more information soon about a late-fall Saturday class.
And capping off the season, we're joining East Bay/Oakland and Santa Clara Valley for a Tri-Chapter Holiday Party. The people make the party, but a live band and a silent auction certainly add to the fun!
