Clyfford Still Museum Tour
Visit the award-winning Clyfford Still Museum which was designed specifically to showcase the legacy of Clyfford Still, an artist whose life has been shrouded in mystery and whose work has mostly been hidden from public view for decades. This facility is home to nearly everything Clyfford Still created, and his art can only be seen in Denver. During our customized tour you will see the unique artistic vision uncompromised for money or recognition. Our tour will include back-of-house areas, processes and an overview of the architectural beauty of the museum building. See how the building details and design complement and enhance the displays, storage, and maintenance of the art it houses. Understand how the building design anticipated both current and on-going preservation.
Learning Objectives: After completing the tour participants will be able to:
- Describe how building design, which is iconic in and of itself, enhances the artwork displays without competing with them.
- Describe special design features integrated into the building design for protection, storage and maintenance of artwork.
- Describe how natural and artificial lighting was used to both protect and enhance the artwork displays.
- Describe elements of building design which look into the future for protecting and displaying iconic artwork.
Activity Involved: There will be walking and standing during the tour with occasional stools/benches for resting. Limited wheelchairs available at the museum.
Special Notes:
- There will be a .5 mile walk to and from the museum from the hotel. Staff will be on hand to assist you, if needed, in arranging transportation to and from the museum via your Uber or Lyft app.
- The Clyfford Still Museum is currently requiring visitors to show proof of vaccination. We will update this policy if it changes, but please only sign up for this tour if you can comply with this requirement.
