IBC 2018 IMPACTS ON CURTAIN WALL DESIGN
The 2018 IBC revisions impact curtain wall design. The magnitude of those changes depend on project type and compliance path selected. Join us for a discussion to help you decide if these changes impact your life. If they do, what are your next steps?
The presentation will include an overview and three project examples to illuminate varying 2018 IBC compliance paths due to project size and complexity:
Curtain Wall: What it IS and what it ISN’T.
Low Rise & Midsize Project Examples: (Lakeview Office & NHL Training Facility)
·Spec Stage: NFRC 100/200 Tested System
·Bidding Stage: NFRC Bid Report Required
·Contract Phase: NFRC Tested /Certified System & Manufacture listed inside the contract.
·Construction Phase: NFRC Certificate Required at time of Installation – required within the contract & by code official.
Larger/Tower Project Example: (222 Dexter)
·Concept Massing Stage: Thermal Benchmarks are identified by Thermal Modeler or Envelop Consultant for Permit Compliance and Incentives
·Schematic Design Stage: Prelim-inary Thermal Model is completed
·Budget/DD Stage:
· NFRC Benchmarks are provided
· NFRC Thermal Models are required
· Thermal Model is updated to show if it is in or out of compliance.
·Design Development/Contract GMP Stage:
· Performance Mock Up Designed
· Glass Type: SHGC, VLT, U-Value
· Performance Mock Up is Tested
·Construction Phase: Thermal Model is monitored for material & assembly compliance.
