Teaching Construction Trades in Pandemic
Speaker: Jennifer K. Stutz, CSI
Career Technical Education exists at an exciting intersection, where the education of our youth meets the needs of the local economy.
The mission of the Construction Trades program is to provide students with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to pursue rewarding construction careers with excellent wages and benefits. This is cultivated with hands-on activities, project-based learning, field-trips, and guest speakers to meet rigorous academic and industry standards. There is a strong focus on safety and professionalism, as students develop highly employable traits.
Beginning in the 2020-2021 school year, the program is one of the first CORE Plus construction programs in the state of Washington, sponsored by the AGC Education Foundation and approved by OSPI (Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction). The program follows NCCER curriculum (National Center for Construction Education and Research).
