Rimes Mortimer is the General Manager, Applied Innovation team within Microsoft Digital - a newly formed Microsoft organization designed to help customers define and implement their digital transformations. In his role, Mortimer leads a global team specifically focused on creating highly innovative solutions with customers and partners using emerging technologies, like IoT, Blockchain, Machine learning, AI, and Mixed Reality (Hololens) to accelerate new growth areas of opportunity for Microsoft, its customers and partners.
Rimes, who’s holds both Environment Studies and Architecture degrees from the University of Waterloo in Canada, has helped incubate the Hololens business in Microsoft Services, new Blockchain partnerships and market offerings, and Smart Buildings and City solutions spanning Singapore, Israel, Canada, USA, Japan, United Kingdom, UAE, and China.

Customer Success Deployment Specialist
Mark King is a Customer Success Deployment Specialist at Autodesk, focusing on assisting customers in the training and implementation of the BIM 360 platform. Prior to Autodesk, Mark was a VDC Manager for Skanska in Seattle; spent three years in the Middle East as the MENA Engineering Systems Manager for Parsons, and nearly 14 years at Lease Crutcher Lewis, departing as Director of BIM Services. Mark has taught BIM for the AGC, at South Puget Sound CC, and for the University of Washington BIM Certification Program. Mark has also been a frequent guest speaker for the UW Construction Management Program. While at Skanska, Mark worked as lead on three University of Washington Turnover to Maintenance (T2O) projects. In this role Mark was responsible for managing data generated by Designers, Subcontractors and Owners, advising UW Capital Projects and Facility Management on opportunities for optimizing the process, and for training the entire team on the T2O requirements and workflows. Mark will provide a brief history of FM and BIM and the opportunity for creating efficiencies and leveraging model data. He will provide an overview of BIM 360 Building Ops and demonstrate building operational data, workflow and share customer testimonials.

John SanGiovanni has more than two decades of experience as an entrepreneur and inventor. John has authored more than 20 patents in the areas of augmented reality, wearable hardware systems, and UI, many of which have subsequently been licensed or purchased by Apple, Microsoft, and others. In addition, John has led product teams which have shipped more than 30 top-tier Apps for iOS/Android, 10 of which achieved top-5 in their respective App Store category and have won major digital/interactive awards. Between ventures, John served as a Technical Evangelist for Microsoft Research, where he led external research funding in the areas of mobile technology and AR and co-invented several UI metaphors now used on more than a billion devices worldwide. John currently serves as CEO of Visual Vocal, a powerful platform for multi-user VR/AR productivity and communication. Visual Vocal is currently in use by some of the world’s largest engineering/architecture/construction companies.
Virtual and Augmented Reality will transform Jobsite Communications, Documentation, and Facilities/Owner Training in new and impactful ways. AR/VR expert John SanGiovanni will overview current trends in both VR and AR, and share the ways that market leaders are working together to explore bold new ways to collaborate and communicate using this revolutionary technology.

Hendrik Van Hemert oversees all Pacific Northwest technical service offerings and leads business planning, strategy and financial management. McKinstry’s technical service offerings include new construction and existing building commissioning, facility condition assessments, active energy management, transition to sustainable operations, powerED and measurement and verification. Van Hemert also leads McKinstry’s issue management services, which includes Knowledge Response Center and InfoCentre.
Hendrik will share how the explosion of data in the operations of the built environment is setting the stage for a digital market transformation. His presentation will outline challenges and barriers to faster adoption of technology in facility operations and explain how a dearth of foundational knowledge has limited the impact and scale of smart buildings to date.
