American Infrastructure Development

Bio

I have been very active in CSI since I joined, and a big proponent of the CDT certification program. Together with several volunteers we have been teaching the CDT Prep Classes in Tampa since 2007, with remarkable success. I have served as a CSI Leader at the Chapter and Region levels for many years, and have developed a number of lifelong friendships and within CSI.

I am the Vice President of Architecture for American Infrastructure Development (AID), an A/E Firm based in Tampa focused on aviation work. I have worked for several prestigious firms in the past, involving over $2.8 billion in successful construction during my career. This extensive experience includes a myriad of project types including government facilities, aviation projects, office buildings, hotels, high-rise condominiums, medical, convention centers, parking garages and recreation and sports complexes. Project size has varied with construction costs for a single project up to $350 million. This has included many governmental facilities constructed with fast tracked project schedules, utilizing design-build, design-bid-build, and Construction Management project delivery methods.

The Pirate Ship at Raymond James Stadium was one of my fondest and most well-known projects, for which I was given a Super Bowl Ring by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, after they won the Super Bowl.

I am an avid sailor, golfer and all-around sports enthusiast, which is only natural for a Ramblin Wreck from Georgia Tech. I have been very active in the Tampa Bay GA Tech Alumni Association and helped raise funds for an endowed scholarship fund that will award an annual-perpetual scholarship to local HS Students attending GA Tech.

My wife’s name is Sheila, and we share three sons, that are now successful in their own careers (non-construction related). Our Dachshund (Willie) keeps watch over the homestead, protecting us and alerting us to the arrival of anything that moves, lands, arrives, drives, or motorboats within 150 feet of the house. Sheila and I are also blessed with four God Children {Lindsey, Kyle, Jaden and Bryson (The ‘twins’ most commonly known by me as “Rufus I & II”}, and four grandchildren Cooper, Riley Moon, Luca and Logan that keep us young at heart.
