One Discovery Square - A Healthcare Innovative Campus & Toys for Tots Toy Drive

In collaboration with HOK/RSP/Mortenson and Colliers International, we would like to introduce you to ‘ONE DISCOVERY SQUARE’, a healthcare innovative campus. Discovery Square in Rochester, Minnesota is a 16 block sub-district built in collaboration with Mayo Clinic in a highly connected urban life science hub. Discovery Square is a unique entrepreneurial environment of businesses of all sizes. Vibrant, agile startups bring their unique energy to Discovery Square, while some of the largest and best respected companies from around the world bring deep expertise to the community. Festivals, museums, dining, shopping and nightlife are all within walking distance of Discovery Square. Plus natures beauty surrounds you with hiking and biking trails, trout streams and adventure throughout the region. This presentation will touch on the design guiding principles of making phase one of this project happen.

Basem Hamamami
RSP Architects
Basem Hamamami is a Senior Associate and Senior Project Manager at RSP Architects. His project management acumen is brought to you by coffee: he drinks upwards of six cups per day. This extra energy has helped fuel his 25 years of experience, during which he has worked on an amazing variety of large-scale, complex buildings around the world. Of these, healthcare projects are his favorite. Basem truly enjoys seeing how his work positively impacts society by improving the healing process and augmenting the level of care available. As a project manager, Basem is instrumental in keeping these projects moving forward. He is part technical skills and part people skills, and prides himself on uniting groups of stakeholders with different interests and needs.
Jeremy Jacob
Mortenson
Jeremy Jacob leads Mortenson's development business for Minnesota, Iowa and the Dakotas. From medical office to biomedical office and hospitality to multi-family, Jeremy's ability to focus on and understand the nuances of the customer business and the transaction are reasons why they choose to work with Mortenson again. Jeremy is responsible for feasibility analysis, site selection and acquisition, tenant recruitment, design, government approvals, and financing through construction completion. Jeremy grew up in Virginia and moved to Minnesota after a five-year career as an attorney in the U.S. Army. He received his Bachelor of Arts from the University of Richmond in political science and english, and his Juris Doctorate and MBA from West Virginia University. He now lives in South Minneapolis with his wife Kate, their son Grant, and dog Archie.
