Speakers:

Corey Bronczyk, Attorney at Law, Arthur Chapman Kettering Smetak & Pikala, P.A.

Corey works with a variety of construction industry stakeholders, including general contractors, subcontractors, manufacturers, suppliers, design professionals, and owners, with many construction-related legal challenges. Corey and the Arthur Chapman Construction Law team handle a wide array of construction related legal issues, which range from contract negotiation and disputes, site injuries and OSHA claims, to defect claims, delay claims, mechanic’s liens and bond claims, among many others. Clients and colleagues call on Corey for not only his legal skills, but also rely on his knowledge of the construction industry. Corey has approximately ten years’ experience working in the construction industry on residential, commercial, and institutional building projects, in both trade and management positions, prior to starting his legal career.

Corey also is an adjunct professor teaching construction law for construction management students at Minnesota State University Moorhead. When not working with clients or teaching, Corey can be found spending time with his wife and kids, completing various construction projects, or enjoying the great outdoors.


Juan Avila, Attorney at Law, Arthur Chapman Kettering Smetak & Pikala, P.A.

Juan works with clients on complex, multi-party litigation matters in the areas of construction, professional liability (architects and engineers), personal injury, premises liability, and product liability. Juan’s clients rely on his knowledge and experience successfully litigating cases through trial, arbitration, and on appeal. He also assists clients with avoiding litigation, loss prevention, and effective risk management.

Through this practice of writing and lecturing, Juan keeps his clients aware of the latest legal changes. He has published and lectured on various topics involving civil procedure, construction law, and professional liability claims involving architects and engineers. Juan keeps active in the legal community and has served as treasurer and board member for the Minnesota Hispanic Bar Association. He was also a past board member of the Hennepin County Bar Association. When not focused on client work, Juan stays active and entertained by his three children. He enjoys golfing, bicycling, playing guitar and all things Boston sports.
