Description

2020FebruaryFlood.jpg
We live in an area prone to flooding. Hurricanes, high tides, rain, rising seas, eroding shores, and sinking landfill... We have to plan for flooding, design for it, build for it. They don’t call it the “lowcountry” for nothin’ -- it is inevitable here!

Kevin Kennedy
from Atlantic Shutters will be speaking on the subject. And he was the experience! In addition to his work with his company, Atlantic Shutters, which specializes in storm and flood protection, Kevin serves on the board of the International Hurricane Protections Association.

What flood-proofing is required? Why? How does it work? There are a lot more questions our experts will answer: Join us to learn:

  • How do building codes, government requirements and guidelines impact the design of flood-proofing protection for new building design/construction?
  • How do you implement the minimum engineering design considerations for flood proofing design?
  • What are the responsibilities of the building owner/facilities management for deployment of flood-proofing devices (Flood Emergency Operation Plan)?
  • What inform the choices made during project design in planning for flood-proofing?
  • What is the difference between wet flood-proofing and dry waterproofing and the advantages and disadvantages of each so that they will be able to make appropriate choices for their own projects?

This program offers 1 AIA HSW
