Description

Economy, Custom, or Premium? The familiar woodworking grades are changing. It will no longer be sufficient to just write “AWI custom grade” and think you’re done. One major change is that the new ANSI standards will separate functional grades from aesthetic grades.

The Architectural Woodwork Standards, published by Architectural Woodwork Institute (AWI), contains a wealth of information on best practices in the fabrication and installation of architectural woodwork. Every designer needs to have this book on the shelf. However, the technical requirements for each grade were written on the collective experience of woodworkers, not on objective testing. AWI decided to partner with ANSI and rewrite the standards to reflect actual testing of cabinets to strict criteria.

Participants will understand how the AWI standards have changed and be able to use the ANSI standards to appropriately specify architectural woodwork. This program is registered with the AIA/CES for continuing professional education, and provides 1 AIA LU.

Participants will learn how the testing procedures are carried out and be able to select appropriate functional grades. Participants will understand the benefits and costs of the AWI Quality Certification Program and be able to determine when it would be advisable to include in project specifications.

Anyone who is involved in the design, specification, and construction of Architectural Woodwork will NOT want to miss this program!

PLEASE NOTE CHANGE IN DAY TO TUESDAY!
