Below are the program details:

Course Title
Basic Masonry Hands-on Seminar for Professionals

Course Description
To identify, present and educate the course attendees on the of basic elements of structural masonry walls - their performance and system efficiencies.  The focus will be on understanding the variety of standard shapes along with a general presentation of accessory wall components like mortar and how to select it properly. It will present the advantages of a CMU wall system and how choosing a CMU System mitigates risk to the architect, construction manager, and owner.

Learning Objective 1
Participants will be able to understand the basic elements of a structural masonry wall and how the CMU meets ASTM C90 Standard Specification and contributes to the strength, fire resistance, and water resistance of the final wall assembly.

Learning Objective 2
Participants will better understand the role mortar plays in structural and veneer masonry walls and how choosing the right type of mortar and grout contributes to a wall that meets the designers criteria  for wall assembly strength and overall building envelope performance that resists moisture.

Learning Objective 3
Participants will be able feel the difference between lightweight, medium weight, and normal weight CMU. They will also understand how each aggregate contributes to the fire resistance rating of the unit and wall assembly.

Learning Objective 4
