One key component to an effective physical site security program is establishing and maintaining the perimeter of a facility or asset. After identifying the assets of the facility, defining the anticipated threats, and assessing the vulnerabilities of a site, physical security products and procedures can be installed and implemented to better achieve the protection objectives. Fences, walls, bollards, planters, pedestrian turnstiles, gates, vehicle barriers, guard booths, and access control systems establish the perimeter. These products can be integrated with sensors, cameras, lighting, and communication equipment to effectively deter, delay, deny, detect, and respond to threats. Recent product developments and procedures will be highlighted and discussed.
