WebReach - Designing for the Effects of Wind on a Building – Tests and Reality

When:  Sep 15, 2021 from 02:00 PM to 03:00 PM (ET)

A building’s roof is usually the first line of defense when it comes to wind-related events, including hurricanes, tornadoes, and other storms. Since these events are happening more frequently and with increasing intensity, a metal roofing system offers, when installed properly, the best chance of performance and protection of a building’s occupants and property. This course will review the types of metal roof panels and how they perform, and will cover test methods and installation procedures. The information will help building teams design and install high-performance metal roofing systems that can withstand high winds.

  • Identify the types of metal roof panels and their performance capabilities, and understand the test methods established for metal roof panels.
  • Create specifications that identify the proper test methods to be included for the various roof products, styles, and applications.
  • Recognize proper code requirements for metal roof systems and perimeter edge systems.
  • Discover how actual field performance of products relates to test methods and procedures, and implement best practices.
