Calvin R. Sibley, Director
Bureau of Building, Grounds and Real Property Management
House Bill 698 passed this past year which resulted from a Mississippi Supreme Court case which affected the way projects were being funded. Calvin will discuss the history of events and what led up to this court case.
Some other issues The Bureau is dealing with include the Capitol Complex Improvement District which is an area in Jackson where the State can do street and utility work. Bureau of Buildings presented this at the annual engineer’s meeting at Roosevelt State Park last summer.
This year there is the requirement that Agencies report roof conditions through DFA to the legislature with some requirements written related to inspection of roofs. This just took affect this year as far as reporting. This will be of great interest to roofing contractors who are present as well as interest to architects who may be planning State building roofing projects.
Calvin will speak in general terms about funding for this year. Much the same as last but without many big new projects but, funding none the less. Most will be notified when the Bureau gets to issue RFQ’s for those projects later in the year nearer the time for bond sales.
Calvin will speak briefly about the professional selection process too.
Calvin will end his presentation with a question and answer session.
