    All:
Realizing that idol minds are the devil's own; I offer the following for thought.

The limited number of persons with certifications beyond the CDT, I am suggesting that the Region consider offering a series of Webinars for the CCCA, CCS, and CCPR exams.

For the test project I propose that the CCPR be the first up. Why, because manufacturer's are pushing their sales reps to get the CDT and therefore I believe the sales reps in the Region should be willing to take the CCPR exam if a support system was offered.

The slide show from the Institute costs about $ 150.

    Thoughts?

Just a thought, have you thought about asking the Chapters interested in sponsoring something like this locally and being put on by the Region, to chip in some funds to cover the costs of the materials and the efforts of the volunteers putting this on.  Might be a way of making this cost neutral to the Region at the same time providing a solid benefit to the individual Chapters not capable of providing these courses on their own.

Thad Goodman with National Gypsum is hold a weekly webinar/study group for CCPR beginning in September.  There is no cost to join this webinar/study group.  If anyone is interested they can contact Thad at thadg@nationalgypsum.com.  This should allow the region to concentrate on one of the other exams.

    Robert and Billy,

Suzan was good enough to note that the Great Lakes Region feels the same way you do about the higher level certifications, and have acted on it.

You are also correct that it takes a wider bandwidth than a Chapter, and actually ours was offered country-wide in order to get enough participants to make the class worthwhile.
There was a CCPR spring prep class, which proved to be well attended with members from New York to California.
We are doing a fall session as well. Attendance is growing as the word spreads. Colin at 4 Specs has been good enough to spread the word, as well as several region certification chairs, other CCPR's, etc.

Our hope is that by starting a class and developing a format, we will be able to gain enough traction increase the number of test takers across the country.
There are plans in the works to establish a CCPR Boot Camp that could be wrapped into a Region Conference or Region Leadership workshop. Stay tuned!

Well another year and another idea. Can every Certification Chair in the Region look thru their files for practice exams and set up a file sharing site here? There are only 2 people here taking the exam and we need to give them support.
    Thanks

Took me a while, but I finally got around to answering.
All the materials I have are a couple of editions old and may not be valid.  I keep hoping for some action on the national level, since that seems to be where these new editions of the manual come from.  I wish we could hold on to an edition for a longer time, and just change things when they need to be changed.  How may specifying principles become obsolete or incorrect, after all.
Hoping for some guidance from on high.
