    Course Description and Learning Objectives

The COVID-19 pandemic has caused the American Workforce to migrate to working from home en masse.  The Memphis Chapter of CSI is hosting on workshop to prep the architecture, engineering and construction community for this unprecedented event.

During this workshop, we will hear from leaders in architecture firms, general contractors and product representatives on best practices for maintaining an efficient home office.  Our panel will identify common barriers to productive workflows when working from home.  We will explore organizational tips to keep the remote-employee actively engaged and how the unique circumstances have impacted our work lives.  The workshop will also review useful forms of software to ensure constant activity and communication between project teams and how these tools can maximize for our benefit.

Finally, the panel will discuss the unusual circumstances the COVID-19 pandemic presents, and from a leadership standpoint, how vital it is to address the employee as a person who has cares and worries just like anyone else, not just as a team member working on a project. The panel will explore how team leaders need to be checking in more and doing more to help diminish anxiety and frustrations for our workforce as much possible because those anxieties can become real distractions and barriers for achieving the goals of our projects.

After attending this program, participants will be able to:

    1. Identify common barriers to working from home productively.
    2. Apply organizational tips to maintain structured workdays while operating remotely and describe best practices for maintaining an efficient home office.
    3. Investigate useful tools and software to maintain high levels of activity and communication.
    4. Explore ways practice leaders can maintain a high morale of their workforce with open and sustained communication.
    5. Discuss how this is affecting the separate fields of the construction industries
