With the popularity for “Cool Roofs” growing, it is natural that roofing manufacturers who sell dark colored roofs will try to discredit cool roofing benefits. This presentation takes a look at some of the cool roofing arguments and helps to understand what is really fact from fiction.

  1. Understanding the concept of “cool roofing”, how they function and how they are defined and qualified in various energy and environmental codes and standards.
  2. Assess the potential environmental impacts of broad implementation of cool roofing strategies.
  3. Evaluate the energy benefits of cool roofing materials in northern climates.
  4. Review the performance of some cool roofing materials in practice over the past decades.
