Specifier Roundtable: Covering all the Bases of NFPA 285

When:  Oct 11, 2018 from 12:00 PM to 01:00 PM (CT)
Associated with  Chicago

Description

Specification Strategies for Covering all the Bases of NFPA 285

Facilitated by: Melissa Gibson, NCARB, CSI, CCS, CCCA, LEED AP BD+C | Epstein

Many combustible materials are available to improve energy performance, reduce water and air infiltration, and allow for aesthetic design flexibility in non-combustible exterior wall assemblies. However, specifying them as part of a wall assembly that must pass NFPA 285 testing is not a task to be taken lightly.

For this roundtable participants will learn multiple approaches for specifying wall assemblies and their components to meet NFPA 285 requirements and understand how carefully crafted specifications can ensure that those requirements are not sidestepped during construction administration.

Continuing Education: 1.0 AIA/CES LU/HSW
Cost: Complimentary to members and nonmembers
Attendance: In person of by webcast

Learning Objectives:

  1. Learn which wall system products require special attention when specifying to comply with NFPA 285.
  2. Learn how to specify NFPA 285 compliance via a full wall system specification.
  3. Learn the specification language to include within individual wall system products for NFPA 285 compliance.
  4. Understand how to follow-through on NFPA 285 performance requirements during construction administration.
