Description

Alchemy of Architecture

Presented by: Dave Kimball, Technical Specialist- Building Envelope | PROSOCO

Rapid changes in material chemistry leave many specifiers and architects in the dark about material compatibility. It can be difficult to make educated design decisions when many of these new products do not have a history of performance and we are forced to rely solely on a manufacturer’s warranty.  Gain practical advice from a chemist with nearly 40 years of experience helping non-chemists understand how chemistry influences things that happen in construction.

Location: East Bank Club, Chicago
Time: 5:00pm-8:00pm
Cost: Complimentary to CSI Chicago Members; Nonmembers $55 (includes dinner)
Registration: Due by November 20, 2018
Continuing Education: pending credit approval.

Parking Information.

Learning Objectives:
  1. Become familiar with typical architectural materials and chemistries currently available on the market.

  2. Understand what compatibility is and what common materials you should be careful with.

  3. Review common details where differing products/assemblies must interface.

  4. Understand the importance of sequencing related to material chemistry.
