Industry Roundtable: Enhanced Writing Skills for Construction Professionals

In an era where social media allows anyone to be published, writing skills are more important than ever. Many professionals lack the requisite background to effectively communicate. This session investigates commonalities between creative, persuasive, and technical writing, and recommends approaches for professionals to feel at home when writing.

Learning Objectives:
  1. Describe situations when construction professionals may be called upon to write.
  2. Differentiate between writing styles, and select which is appropriate in each situation.
  3. Classify basic grammar and usage skills needed for professional writing.
  4. Apply CSI's 4 C's of effective communication in creative, persuasive, and technical writing.

Speaker Bio: George A. Everding, FCSI, CCS, CCCA, AIA is retired after a 40-year career as an architect, specifier, and construction administrator. He taught classes on specifications and building material selection at Washington University School of Architecture and at St. Louis Community College at Meramec.

Registration: Required by Tuesday, September 19.  Limited seating available on a first come basis. Complimentary to members and non-members. Non-members requesting to attend will be added to a waiting list until members are accommodated. Notification of available non-member spaces is sent at least two business days in advance.
