Panel Discussion Description

Material Delays & Labor Shortages & Escalations, Oh My! Getting projects built in an uncertain world.

Construction companies are facing severe shortages in key materials and labor while also dealing with unpredictable price escalations. These challenges have the potential to cause construction schedule delays, unplanned product substitutions, and requisite design adjustments. In response, construction project stakeholders are altering their operations and innovating approaches to combat the compounding challenges, and work towards mutually beneficial project outcomes. This panel discussion will highlight strategies and approaches used by project teams to keep projects moving forward while there is so much uncertainty around the availability of construction resources.

Presentation Learning Objectives

  1. Identify supply chain challenges the construction industry has been managing in the last five years.
  2. Explain how material delays, labor shortages, and price escalations have influenced project delivery methods and contract documents.
  3. Compare strategies and approaches utilized by Owners, Designers, and Contractors to address supply chain challenges.
  4. Analyze key factors that project stakeholders evaluate to make decisions that keep projects moving forward.
