Cannabis grow facilities are a new and emerging market for most of the design world.  This virtual presentation will provide an overview of cannabis growing and best practices for designing a functional, safe, code-compliant cannabis grow facility.

  1. Describe the grow cycles for cannabis plants, and the differences in optimal environment for the plants vs. human occupants
  2. Summarize the infrastructure requirements and typical security features of cannabis grow and extraction facilities.
  3. Discuss how to provide a functional, safe, & cost-effective design to the client.
  4. Analyze the pitfalls to avoid when designing a cannabis grow or extraction facility.

About Our Presenter:

Bruce C. Dobbs, P.E.
President, Mechanical Systems Engineering

Bruce Dobbs is a registered mechanical engineer with over 35 years of experience in the energy and mechanical design fields.  Bruce has a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Washington State University and an M.B.A. from Pepperdine University.  He has been President of Mechanical Systems Engineering for the past 17 years.

In addition to doing design and energy work, Bruce is involved in education as an Adjunct Professor at Portland State University Maseeh School of Engineering and has been on the faculty since 1992.

Bruce is the past chair of the State of Oregon Energy Board, past president of Oregon Chapter of ASHRAE, and is on the Board of Directors for the Building Owners and Managers Association (BOMA) of Oregon.
