Lean On Me:
Improving the Specifier and Product Rep Relationship and Results

Presented by:

Cherise Lakeside, FCSI, CDT
Senior Specification Writer, RDH Building Science

This session will explore the challenges that specifiers and products representatives face in working together and getting their jobs done – correctly, completely, and efficiently.  We will consider the challenges from both perspectives, explore opportunities for improvement, and strategies for more efficient communication.

Learning Objectives:

  1. Describe common challenges and possible solutions for improving the relationship between project specifiers and the manufacturer’s representatives.
  2. Understand and recognize the responsibilities of a specifier to their employer, the project, and the contract and how those responsibilities affect their relationships with the product representatives.
  3. Identify the skills of a product representative that are most valuable to their relationship with a specifier.
  4. Demonstrate best practices for communication, timing of the exchange information, and quality of information needed for the successful project results.
