Curtain walls provide some of the most dramatic design details of a building. This course explains various types of curtain wall systems and their assembly. Attendees will explore design pressure calculation, installation and glazing processes. A recent trend toward more fabrication / assembly in controlled environment (Unitized) will be reviewed. Latest energy codes and the industry’s response will be reviewed.

Learning Objectives:
  1. Differentiate the various types of curtain wall systems, anchoring systems and proper installation.
  2. Discuss the variables for Design Pressure calculation and the use of wind speed and ASCE 7 calculators to assist on your project.
  3. Examine Glazing Processes and how to select the best process for your application.
  4. Recognize recent trends in energy efficiency and pre-glazing and the industry’s response.
