Cap off your 2022 CSI National Conference with an exclusive tour of the Clyfford Still Museum in historic downtown Denver. This unique opportunity provides a personalized showing of the museum, which was designed specifically to showcase the legacy of Still, an artist whose life has been shrouded in mystery and whose work has mostly been hidden from public view for decades. During this customized tour, you will see the unique artistic vision uncompromised for money or recognition. The tour will include back-of-house areas, processes, and an overview of the architectural beauty of the museum building.

Heralded as one of the leading figures in the first generation of Abstract Expressionists, Still developed a new, powerful approach to painting in the years immediately following World War II.

CSI members will enjoy seeing how the building details and design complement and enhance the displays, storage, and maintenance of the art it houses. They will also learn how the building design anticipated both current and on-going preservation.

After completing the tour participants will be able to:

1. Describe how the iconic building design enhances the artwork displays without competing with them.
2. Describe special features integrated into the building design for protection, storage, and maintenance of artwork.
3. Describe how natural and artificial lighting both protects and enhances the artwork displays.
4. Describe elements of building design that look into the future for protecting and displaying iconic artwork.
