The Construct 2016 has come
and gone. It has
been exciting for
the CSI. While Construct & the 60th annual convention is over and Austin, TX
survive having us descend upon it… summer is almost over. You may be asking yourself why the comment about summer? It seems there are several things you can't avoid; Death, Taxes and a Hot Tucson summer. I relocated from Dallas to Tucson about 3 years ago. Our first 100 degree day in Tucson came early this year, but we ended up with a lot more rain keeping the desert cooler. If it keeps going this way we may escape one of the three, this is something I know I can live with. Even though the Tucson temperature is still under 100, it is time to crank up the heat for the Tucson chapter. This is going to be an exciting year with some exciting changes. Randy Harris the Tucson Chapter President has outline some of the changes for this fiscal year. The first change will be to get everyone together at a social event in November. The we will wrap up in Spring (if all goes as planned) hosting the South West region conference. I’m also excited to meet more of the region members, they we all so inviting to the newbie. The best way I could give back is to get involved.

I also am the treasurer and electronics chair for CSINext (www.csinext.org). Another chapter that is heating up as the Summer comes to a close. We have an exciting year planned for the chapter. Always looking for ways to improve the member experience. This September we are kicking off our programs with Using Drones in Construction.

The last hot thing is this new internet resource tool by CSI. As of the today, the site is live but still in Beta. As I poke around, I like what I see so far. Navigation has improved 100% (still a few items that could use a little help). The Communities and Blogs, make for easy access to thing we are looking for. And best of all a search engine that works. I’m excited to see where it goes as the old site gets retired.

So even though things are cooling down out there. CSI if fired up and the future forecast looks hot and bright. Cheers everyone!
